As I’m on this journey I’m learning what certain passages are trying to get us to understand. When you read them in another season, you’re just like oh okay yeah. But when those instructions come alive in your life it hits different. My heart remembers. Those words always come up in my memory. I grab hold to them. I read them differently. Im learning why it’s important to not look around or compare yourself.
As I lay in bed, I study and admire the people who have gone before me. But i end with comparison. Questioning my work. Finding imperfections. Nitpicking why I THINK I’m not growing. Is it because I’m not talking? Not smiling? Making crazy movements? Edits? Don’t have the pop songs?
But I don’t think everybody needs entertainment. Im not here to put on a show. I don’t want to put on a facade. Im me. And that’s okay.
There doesn’t need to be another So & so 2.0. There needs to be me. There doesn’t need to be entertainment everywhere. People need truth. I desire for people to leave my work feeling like they can do it too, or their own endeavors. Feeling liberated. Whether it’s through a song, an outfit, a writing, etc.
Our souls need to be filled with life and not death.
And one day i will find my people. My work will resonate with the right hearts. I may not be your most hyped creator but there is somebody for everybody. And I’m learning that.
I think now I need to start admiring me even more. Remembering to be my best friend and not my enemy. Finding the reasons you are you. And realizing it’s okay to do things differently even if it’s not most popular. You don’t have to be everything you see. What makes you special? What’s your superpower?
Talk to you soon, Key Lashaye 🖤
2 Corinthians 10:12-13 “We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the sphere of service God himself has assigned to us, a sphere that also includes you.”

Don’t measure yourself up to someone else’s strength. Or to the secular world’s standard. God wants us to be happy about the ministry He assigned to us.
