Last week, I wrote about being lost, unmotivated, and confused in a situation. And if you haven’t read that you should go back and read it first before getting deep into this one. But oftentimes when we feel those emotions and are unsure what move to make that means we lost touch with God. And in order to be sure and know that you have God’s approval, you have to be connected to Him and his word. Because he will surely direct you.
Here are some strong methods that will help:
Pray: Prayer changes the outcome. It’s a way to talk to God. This is the moment to bring everything to Him because he cares. And he is the only one that can fix it.
Meditation: It helps to just rest in God’s presence, quietly, without having to say anything. Once you pray about your feelings or circumstances, go to the word and find the scriptures that associate with that emotion. God speaks on everything so those scriptures can lead you to conquer that. And if you don’t know the scriptures, you can Google “scriptures on ______” and it will give many options. This is the time to dissect and really understand how to put that word to practice in your circumstances.
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
Read Your Bible: This is very important! Your bible is your blueprint and key to how you live, carry yourself, and overall reveal God to you. Maybe you feel like when you are reading it feels like a waste of time because you don’t understand or not getting anything from it. If that’s you, try a different approach.
- Before reading, ask God what he wants you to take from what you are about to read.
- As you are reading, stop to think, get a deeper revelation of that particular scripture. I’m very big on if I don’t know; Google. Research that one scripture and ask for an explanation. A website I like to use is Enduringword.com
- After you finish the chapter(s), highlight what stuck out to you. How does it apply to your life? How can that scripture help you go about things differently?
Journaling: You may think this silly, and a waste of time and paper. BUT! Sister/brother it helps get you through situations. How My Journal Saved me From Destruction literally talks about this! When you can’t talk to no one, feel like you can’t put your thoughts into words, or just need to let it out, just write. God knows your thoughts. Sometimes when we pray, our words don’t come out the way it was in our head. Here are some things you can journal.
- Write a letter to God how you’re feeling.
- Affirmations
- Talk about your day
- Write out your prayer
Listen to a sermon on Youtube or a Podcast: Church isn’t a building; it’s in you. Like me, I have moved away so I haven’t found a church to attend yet. That doesn’t stop me because I can get God’s teaching from many other places. Some amazing people that I receive good teaching from are Steven Furtick, Michael Todd, and Sarah Jakes Roberts. There are so many more great teachers, but these are just some to get you started.
I hope this helps in some way. Just always remember that you are not perfect but what matters is that you are trying. Leave a comment below about what you do when you may have fallen off that will help me and your fellow readers.
Talk to you soon, Key Lashaye 🖤
