We have made “purpose” this big deal. Even me when I first started this walk with Christ. That’s all I focused on; getting to that one that thing because I thought that’s when my purpose began. That’s when I will matter.
Not knowing that our overall purpose is to simply glorfiy God. ( here’s a link to go deeper: https://www.gotquestions.org/purpose-of-man.html ) Then we have different assignments/ roles in building the kingdom and sharing the gospel. Simply how you show up in this world. You may be called to be a light through the school system, graphic designing, preaching, retail, managing, business owner, lawyers, mother, father etc. we’re all assigned different roles. And God has prepared us with the tools and gifts for those assignments to reach people. (Ephesians 2:10) Don’t discredit your season as being a receptionist, RA (resident advisor), the cashier, nanny, student, etc just because you think it doesn’t matter. Or matters in the world’s eye. God wastes nothing.
I was always in purpose once I got on that plane to be a nanny. Because it was called by God. There is purpose to me working as a nanny in the process of building this community. My role was very important. My character, values, and actions impacted another human being. Thats a huge responsibility. However, I learned some things too. Being her nanny has taught me how to be selfless, it taught how to love, serve, nurture, be patient, etc. Watching a little tiny baby grow to conquer many milestones is the beauty. And it gives me deeper perspectives of life. One of the most beautiful things about my job is that if I would have never became her nanny, I probably would have never unlocked my inner child again. She has taught me how to have childlike faith, to imagine, to enjoy, and to shoot for the stars again. God used a little girl to unlock something in my heart that died a long time ago. This is purpose .
when I break it down. Purpose just simply means “meaning.” Which means, important or worthwhile quality; purpose. Simply adding value
God is a God of meaning. Everything he does has meaning. The people he sends in your life. The order of your life. That certain job. Marriage.
God is an intentional God. He cares about the details of your life. Because there is something that needs to be unlocked within.
And we have made purpose so big that people think it’s that ONE big thing. No it’s just simply why are you here? Why did God pick you for that?
Why are you dating this person?
Why that school?
Why that career field?
Those friends?
Why are you doing a particular thing?
Why has God called me here?
Because there is a purpose you just don’t know it yet but trust your Shepherd. Psalms 23:1 There is something God will produce through it.
But also if you never considered God on any of your life decisions it’s not too late. Simply…
God,
I pray meaning over my life. That thy(God’s) will be done on earth at it is in heaven. I pray intentionality. Divine connections. I pray for redirection. And I trust that there is purpose to everything that you’re doing.
In Jesus name
Amen
You don’t have to have it all figured out. That’s why you have a father who already knows the end from the beginning. Who created your life purpose in heaven. It’s your job to let him lead so that it can manifest on earth. Keep saying Lord I pray meaning over my day. over the month. Over my life. Over the connections I will make.
The beauty is in the process, and how God made it all come together. The discovery. We often think it’s about the destination but life is about the journey. That’s where the most meaningful things take place.
Build a valuable life. We’re going to always go through something at least let it be valuable. Not for you, but also for someone else.
Don’t limit God to just be purposeful in ONE thing but that he would give you a purposeful life that produce everlasting fruit.
talk to you soon, Key Lashaye 🖤
Special note to self: you matter. You mattered when you were formed in your mother’s womb. I know you’re waiting on this one moment to matter. To be loved. Seen. To be validated. But I want to tell you the actual truth. You matter now. Not by how well you do something. How you look. The Job. When you make it. You already matter because the God who created everything, your father, loves you. He loves you because you are his child. There is nothing you have to do to win approval, likes, validation, ranking. You already mean so much to him. So you no longer have to chase. You can rest and know that you’re enough. You don’t have to wait for a moment. Just look up and know there is a God who smiles down on you as you shine so bright right where you’re at.
