As I continue to evolve in my style, I would describe my focus for this year as intentional.
I had the chance to look back at my outfits and the habits that went into creating them. I love the fact that I’m leaning more into who I am and creating a wardrobe that represents my current expression. I love the neutral colors but with a twist of vibrant colors to explore my fun side. But there are some particular habits that I want to be more intentional about. Like being more conscious of quality over quantity.
I noticed I have an eager spending habit. That stems from me not investing into my wardrobe most of 2022 and then realizing I have to spend money in order to invest into this. So I started doing that but not in the smartest way. For example, I will like a piece and then quickly act on it, but that’ll eventually backfire on me in the end. Because I’ll have all these pieces in my closet but not an actual solid wardrobe that will create multiple looks. And that will soon become a waste of time all over again, since I previously got rid of a random wardrobe to have a good foundation.
So my game plan is accessing my wardrobe and focus on my missing pieces/what I need more of or better quality. I’ll then research good quality pieces, and spend less and save more until I can purchase the better quality.
This will also work on my self control and patience because it’s going to cause me to build slower but I’d rather take my time and find good pieces that will last me than just try to quickly have pieces to make more content.
However, I do realize I need balance. Overtime, I notice that when I focus on just staple pieces I get bored of my wardrobe so I’ll continue to have my fun splurges but still be conscious with that. I’ll ask myself is this just an eager move or do i see myself keeping it in my wardrobe. Because in the past, I would buy something and then end up wearing it one time or none from not being able to actually style it with my current pieces.
With that being said, I’ll take you on this journey with me. I’ll be sharing my errors, tips/recommendations, and reviews so that hopefully we can both be intentional with our shopping this year and continue to build onto that.
Talk to you soon, Key Lashaye 🖤
