For someone who wants to build their closets its very simple. For so long it was trial and error for me but I want to share some keys that are good to remember when looking to add pieces into your wardrobe. So lets get started with the series…
The Foundation
Neutrals!
They are the best way to start out. Look at them as your best friend. I like to say they are the foundation to a good wardrobe because they match with literally everything and you build on top of them.
So what are considered neutrals?
Black, white, gray, and brown.
Of course this can include the different shades in between these colors, so for example: cream, beige, charcoal, etc. But I recommend starting with the basic 4 colors.
In todays post, I wanted to focus on the tops. And honestly, you can find them anywhere but I wanted to share a few recommendations that are good quality and not too expensive.
H&M
This is literally my favorite place to get my basics. The clothes are easy to look for whether you’re in the actual store or online. Its affordable, comfortable, and a great place to find your simple pieces. I love that they even have a category ,on the website, that will take you directly to their basics. Its linked below.

ASOS
This is the place where you can get a little more creative and switch it up. They have basics that have different patterns, designs, styles, etc. You can dress them up, get a little edgy, or just keep it simple. The prices range from as low as $8 to $100+ but that’s because they include so many different brands such as Adidas, North Face, Nike, Doc Martens, and the list goes on. There’s something for everyone. Check it out, I included some examples for good prices.
ZARA
Okay this place is really my go to! Anything I get here I can guarantee its going to last me. Its the place you can find your timeless pieces. They have a variety of styles and you can literally do a one stop shop here. In the store, you can find the basics but also, they carry a lot more of their trendy pieces. And keep in mind they change their store inventory frequently so always stop by to see what they have.
Amazon
Here, I have to do a little digging. Since many people can sale their inventory online, I take the time to go through reviews to see what previous buyers have said and then I’ll make a decision. But I love getting my crew necks and zip hoodies from the mens. I can never go wrong with these and they give that oversized baggy look that I like to go for. For reference, I wear sizes 8-10 or M/L so I get a XL in men to give the oversized look.
I did not include the exact prices because it varies but I included a range. ($10-$20+) I recommend Hanes and Amazon essential . Link down below.
But okay beauties! I hope this helps and try out any of these places if you haven’t yet. And I will catch up with you soon to talk more fashion.
Talk to you soon, Key Lashaye🖤
