Sometimes when days or weeks go by they start to kick our butts, and we may need to reset. I’ve realized lately, I need to reset my mind more frequently. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and stressed by daily things in life. There are several ways people relieve stress! Some people need to spend money, block out the world, read, cook, eat, go out, etc. To be honest, shopping relieves that stress but I don’t always want to spend money to cope with those feelings. Especially when I look at the damage done to the bank account.
These past months, I have been trying different ways that helps when I need that pick me up. And it’s little things that don’t cost one penny! So check them out below.
Cleaning: Most people probably wouldn’t say this would put them in a positive mindset. If I was younger I would agree but now that I’m older I actually enjoy cleaning. Especially my room because I feel my room is a reflection of my mind. Usually if I’m not in a good head space it shows through my room. Maybe that’s just me. So decluttering my room declutters my mind when it’s all over the place.
Setting the “mood”: Once my room is clean, I like to burn a candle.
Music: This will forever be my favorite. Besides fashion, music is an outlet for me. You can always find a song or playlist that just explains how you are feeling at that moment. I have a playlist for every mood that I feel. I encourage you to do the same because you will not regret it! Lol thank me later.
Shower: Music leads us to a nice hot shower. This is the most peaceful thing I like to do because the music has already set the vibes and you can just clear your head while cleansing physically. I even just talk to God out loud just to have a conversation about what’s on my mind. Or sometimes I sing my heart out and have a concert. That’s the best!
Facial: Once I get out of the shower, I like to do a deep facial cleanse. I’ll do my normal routine but I like to pick a face mask that I can put on for about 20 mins. I’m not sure if you can relate, but I’m part of the lazy crew when it comes to natural hair or any type of routine. I slack off sometimes when I’m in a slump and I tend to notice it when I feel my skin starting to act up. So days like this is really important because I want to treat my body with love and care.
Journal: Okay now it’s time to tackle the mental. This is the moment that my thoughts and emotions come out on paper. I release everything. And even sometimes I just look back at my old thoughts to remind myself that I overcame those negative mindsets and remind myself I can do it again. Sometimes that’s all we need. Just a reminder to keep pushing because the slump doesn’t always last. But if I decide to just write, towards the end I like to motivate and give solutions to the problem(s) that I’m dealing with. Once the journal is closed, I no longer let myself stay in that mindset.
YouTube: Now it’s time to just relax in bed. This is my time to just be at peace and enjoy my vlogs.
These are just a few ideas to get back into a positive mindset and I hope you try at least one.
